Corwin Staus

Corwin "Corky" Staus, age 87, of Vermillion, died onThursday, November 6, 2008 at the Regina Medical Center in Hastings. Corky was born September 30, 1921in Orr, North Dakota to George and KarenAmanda (Sivertson) Staus.He served as a Navy Corpsman on Iwo Jima with the 5th Marines during WWII. He married Aneta Jarombek on July 9, 1946 in Grand Forks, ND. and worked for 37 years as an operating engineerwith Williams Pipeline.Corwin "Corky" issurvived by his wife Aneta; children Rodger (friend Jeanie) of Vermillion, Richard (Valarie) of Hastings, Sandra Lankow (Larry) of Grant, MN, Raymond (Donna) of Hastings, and Judy Johnson of Hastings; also16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his 3 sisters Clara of Utah, Isabel of Nevada, and Arlene of Washington. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Fr. Joseph Arackalwill be held at 10:30am Monday, November 10th at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH in Vermillion. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.The visitation will be held from 4-8pm Sunday at the CATURIA-SMIDT FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. 7th St., Hastings and also 1 hour prior to the Monday service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made toSt. John�s Church or the Salvation Army.
