Columbus G. Freiermuth

Columbus G. Freiermuth, age 85, of Hastings died of cancer onJanuary 15, 2011. Columbus was born September 23, 1925 in Hastings to Columbus and Mary (Biskupski) Freiermuth. He married Rose Marie Girgen on October 22, 1947 in Coates. Columbus was self employed in the construction industry, and enjoyed building houses and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his parents; son David; and 3 great-grandchildren Chris, Hannah, and Cody. Columbus is survived by his wife Rose Marie; children, Marcy (Tom) Sherwood of Hastings, Theresa (Dale) Clemens of Zumbrota, Richard (Lori), Rita (Dell) Smith, Diane Freiermuth-Kolmer, and Dale (Donna) all of Hastings; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and 8 siblings. The Memorial Mass, officiated by Rev. James Perkl, will be held at 10AM Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth St., Hastings, with a gathering one hour prior to the service at church.
