Clayton Mcdougall

Clayton Earl McDougall, was born on March 13, 1934, at a private residence in Dodge Center, MN. On February 25, 2018, at almost 84 years of age, his heavenly father called him home. His unconditional belief in the Lord Jesus Christ brought him total peace and comfort to be welcomed home by his heavenly family. As the family Patriarch, he provided guidance and spiritual inspiration, along with his devoted wife Sharon of 58 years by his side; six children, 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, which made him the richest man on earth. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who surrounded him with love during the journey of his passing and celebrate the fact that he is with his almighty creator for eternal life. Clayton was born to the late Neil and Alice McDougall, who were adoring parents. He grew up cherishing his Welsh and Scottish heritage with a foundation of visiting and treasuring relatives, which he carried on to his family. He was blessed with his older Sister June, whom he was very close until her passing in 2008’. Clayton was proud of being a small-town boy, who grew up in Judson, MN; working on farms, playing softball (his Dad umpired, and Mom ran concessions), and playing the game of football which, he loved for the Nicollet Raider team as the homecoming king. His Grandfather, Uncles, and Father were all railroad professionals and he followed them in to the family trade. As a boy, he would dream of traveling the country and he fulfilled his dream throughout his over 40-year career in transportation. He met and married his loving wife Sharon in 1959 in Rochester, MN; with Clayton wanting two children and Sharon wanting twelve, they compromised on an even six. They moved and traveled too many places while increasing their family to the agreed upon six children along the way. Clayton and Sharon with their six children settled in Hastings, MN, in 1975. They moved their family from Waukesha, WI, when he accepted a position as “Special Agent” with the Federal Interstate Commerce Commission. His office was located in the Courts building in downtown Minneapolis. In 1984, led by the Lord he became the Assistant Chaplain for the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, where he shared the good news of Jesus Christ to the staff and inmates for over twenty-five years. Clayton spoke fondly of his beloved relatives, friends, and classmates from the Nicollet class of 1952 (who knew him as “MAC”). He is well known for his competitive nature during cribbage games, his love of the MN Vikings, and eating dessert with his meal. He retired in 1996 and spent the rest of his days on earth with the love of his life “Sharon” and his entire family. Continuing in the transportation business after retirement, Clayton and Sharon would drive Grand-kids around, always with a hug and a smile. Clayton is survived by his wife, Sharon; his children, Christopher (Theresa) of Burnsville, Colleen Carl of Hastings, Teresa Kaye of Cannon Falls, Daniel (Susan) of Arden Hills, Anne (Brent) Lindberg of Hastings, and Melanie (Harold) Spencer of Farmington. His grandchildren, Corey Latuff, Jeremy (Ashley) Carl, Jason Carl, Justin (Tiffany) Carl, Angela McDougall, Leah McDougall, Seth McDougall, Travis Lindberg, Tessa Lindberg, Charlie Lindberg, Mason Spencer, Madison Spencer, and Mitchell Spencer. Great Grandchildren Alexis Carl, Brooks Carl, Brayden Carl and Liana Carl. He is preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Alice McDougall; and his sister, June Huemoeller. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring Street, Hastings, MN. His funeral service will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone Bible Church, 735 East 10th Street, Hastings, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
