Cheryl Elizabeth Murtaugh

Cheryl E. Murtaugh, age 65, of Hastings, passed away January 8, 2011 at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood. She was born January 10, 1945 to Isadore and Ophelia Huberty in Hastings. She married Lawrence Murtaugh on August 19, 1967 in Hastings at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Cheryl worked as a nurse at Regina and Augustana, she loved to bake and was a modern day 'church lady'. She is preceded in death by her son, Dennis. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Larry; daughters, Sharon (David) Benkufsky; Jean Murtaugh (Jeff Marcolina); Jen (Steve) Hansen; and Sarah Murtaugh (fiance, Mark Meyer); grandchildren, Jena and Maggie Marcolina; and Elizabeth Hansen; sisters, Dorothy Bauer; Jane Doorak; Barbara Lundberg; and Rita Murphy; brother, Paul Huberty; other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Allan Paul Eilen and Fr. Bill Murtaugh, will be Wed. Jan. 12 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings. A gathering will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Honorary Pallbearers are, Rosie Carlson; Tanny Podgorski; Rita Biskupski; Kathleen Horsch; Mary Gayle Roy; and Natalie Judge.
