Charlotte Santelman

Leona Charlotte Santelman, age 95, of Prescott, WI, formerly of Buffalo City, WI and Winona, MN died February 1, 2009 at the River Falls Area Hospital in River Falls, WI. She was born April 25, 1913 in Cyrus, MN to Peter and Lillie (Halvorson) Jacobson. She graduated from Cyrus High School, Cyrus, MN and from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN in 1934. Charlotte taught in Cottonwood and Kasson, MN public schools, Phelps Laboratory School and Winona, MN public schools. She married Lawrence Santelman in 1937. She was a member of Central Lutheran Church in Winona and active in the women�s organizations, church choir, and in Girl Scouts. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence, brothers Roy and Julian, and sister Pearl. She is survived by her 4 children and their families: son Roger (Karen) Santelman of Prescott, WI; granddaughter Laura (Greg) Goeke and great-grandchildren Maren and Megan all of Maple Grove, MN, grandson Steven (Tracy) Santelman and great-grandchildren Nora, Trygve, and Gunnar of Elkhorn, NE; grandson Craig (Nicole) Santelman and great-grandchildren Devon, Alec, and Anders of Hastings, MN; son Charles (Judy) Santelman and grandchildren Christopher and Kacey all of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Karen (William) Burmeister of St. Cloud, MN and grandson Aaron (Karen) and great-granddaughter Samantha of Shorewood, MN and granddaughter Audra (Ray) Spreeman of Buffalo City, WI; daughter Joan (Doug) Macdonell and granddaughter Jessica (Brian) Nederloe and great-grandson Owen and grandson Thomas Storrer, all of Hudson, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Menke, will be held at 11:00 a.m., March 21st, 2009 at the CATURIA-SMIDT FUNERAL HOME, 201 E.Seventh St., Hastings with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing, MN at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family will be directed to Central Lutheran Church in Winona, MN.
