Charlotte Lenore Schoen, lifelong resident of Hastings, MN died on November 14, 2021 surrounded by her loving daughters. She was 83 years old. She was born July 24, 1938 in Hastings. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1956. After high school she attended Gustavus Adolphus College where in 1960 she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She made lifelong friends as part of the first nursing class at Gustavus. She married her high school love, Paul Schoen, on November 29, 1963. Charlotte worked at Regina Hospital in Hastings, MN for over 40 years as a RN, Infection Preventionist, and Utilization Manager before her retirement in 2003. Her compassionate nature made her an excellent nurse. Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Pam (Dan) Hoeffel of Woodbury, LeAnne (Mike) Schumacher of Maple Grove, and Tara (Jeff) Hubbart of Hastings; ten grandchildren, Max, Sam, Kate, Jane Hoeffel, Megan, Ben, Elise Schumacher, and Hannah, Lauren, Cooper Hubbart; sisters LaVonne Soleim, Phyllis (Dick) Hoffmann, Ruth Dahl, and Jan (Mike) Woog. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Paul; parents, Clinton and Alice (Edstrom) Benjamin; her in-laws, Cyrus and Dorothy (Shingledecker) Schoen; and her brother-in-laws Skip Soleim, Roy Dahl, and Peter Schoen. Charlotte was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hastings and was actively involved in Church Council, Lay Ministry, choir, handbells, Food with Friends, and coffee fellowship. She also had a passion for music, theatre, gardening, and she loved to travel. Charlotte is remembered as a generous and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She always welcomed everyone with a loving heart and was quick to lend a hand to those in need. The greatest joy she experienced was the joy she had while being with family. She loved holidays and creating traditions that will be remembered fondly by her children and grandchildren. Her favorite week of the year was the one spent surrounded by family in Nisswa, MN. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and the many lives she touched. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving caregivers, nurses and staff at Artis Senior Living in Woodbury, Minnesota for their compassionate care given to Charlotte. Love you more. A memorial service will be held at Our Saviour’s Evangelical Church on November 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorials are preferred. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
