Charles W. Gabbert, age 90, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away December 16, 2014. He was born in Hankinson, ND on June 7, 1924 to George and Elsie Gabbert. He married Lorraine Huff in Union County, SD on May 21, 1949. He lived in Moorhead, MN from 1949 to 1962 when he moved to South St. Paul. He lived there until his retirement from Cenex, where he worked for 30 years. After retirement, he moved to Big Mantrap Lake in 1983 and in 2013 moved to Summerfield Place in Park Rapids. Charles is a US Navy veteran and a member of the Mantrap Valley Conservation Club. He was an active church member, most recently giving his time to Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Charlotte Gabbert; great grandson, Trenton; sister, Helen (Ted) Highum; brother, George (Arlett) Gabbert; and sister in law, Arlene Gabbert. Charles is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Terry (Diane) Gabbert; Ivy James-Kuehl; Timothy Gabbert; and Amy (Dan) Immermann; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Howard (Doris) Gabbert; and Richard Gabbert; other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Josh Bernau, will be held on Saturday (12/20) at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 16898 Michael Ave. in Hastings. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Pallbearers are Layne, Paul, David, Steve and Jeff Gabbert, and Mario Reyes. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
