Charles D Wright

Charles “Chuck” D. Wright, age 91, of Hastings, died peacefully on Sunday morning, Feb. 12, 2017 at home. Charles, the son of Fred and Annie (Chute) Wright, was born on April 10, 1925, in Chetek, WI. He married the love of his life Geraldine “Jerry” Grotjohn on July 25, 1948 in Luck, WI, later moving to Hastings where they raised their four daughters together. He worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1992. Chuck was an artist in the woodworking and leather tooling fields, creating many unique and treasured gifts over the years. His true lifelong passion was for motorcycles. He rode for over 30 years with his relatives, known as the Candy Ass Riders, as well as with his wife Jerry, until 2011 when he had the stroke that took this ability away. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill; and infant grandson, Bart Matz Jr. He is survived by his wife, Jerry; his children, Wendy (Elden) Baalson, Deb Wright, Jeri (Gary) Wahlstrom, all of Hastings, and Jennifer (Steve) Albarado of Ellsworth, WI; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members, as well as his loyal companion and furry friend, Maddie. A special “Thank you” to Augustana, Regina, Grace & Allina Hospice for their care during Dad’s stays with them over the past 6 years. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St. in Hastings. A gathering will be held one hour prior to the service.
