Cecilia V. Meyer

Cecilia V. Meyer, age 84 of Hastings and formerly St. Paul Park, died Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Regina Medical Center, Hastings. Cecilia V., the daughter of John and Loretta (Broschofsky) Theis, was born on August 6, 1931 in Buckman, Minnesota. She married Edmund H. Meyer on August 14. 1949 and he later preceded her in death on July 26, 1978. Cecilia previously worked at Kings Foods, Super America and K-Mart and eventually retired from Wal-Mart in Hastings. Cecilia enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, fishing and eating fish, and was also an avid card player. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edmund; her siblings, Bernard Theis, Raymond Theis, Marie Theis, Sister Eileen Theis, OSF, Donald Theis, Lawrence Theis and Reinhart (Ruth) Theis; her brothers-in-law, Willard Hoheisel and William Graft. Cecilia is survived by her children, Ginny (Kaye) Christenson of Hastings, Mary Lou (Rollie) Marks of Annandale, Richard (Kristy Jo) Meyer of Kensett, IA, and John (Sheila) Meyer of St. Paul; her 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; her siblings, Helen Hoheisel, Al (Irene) Theis, Marion Bleichner, Judy Graft and Rod (Ann) Theis; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Private family interment will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Cemetery in St. Paul Park.
