Carol R. Chapin

Carol R. Chapin, age 73 of Hastings, died peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2016 at United Hospital in St. Paul following a brief illness.Carol Ruth, the daughter of Melvin and Esther (Olson) Chapin, was born on June 25, 1942 in Pine City, Minnesota. Carol was a longtime employee of Hastings Detox and Mission Lodge in Plymouth where she dedicated herself to helping those struggling with dependencies. She was a member of Hastings Rivertown Lions Club where she was active as a Board member and was very instrumental with the Bunny Breakfast, along with many other events within the club. Carol also dedicated many hours to Hastings Family Service as she truly believed in the main cause of their organization.She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother-in-law, Larry McCarten.Carol is survived by her siblings, Ray (Mary) Chapin of Etter, Roger (Sally) Chapin of Fernley, Nevada, Kathy McCarten of Coral Springs, Florida and Linnea (David) Pollichetti of Haley, Idaho; her many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends whom she considered as family.Per Carols request, no formal funeral service will be held. A Celebration of her Life will be held in the spring. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
