Candace "Candy" Hancock, age 65 of Hastings, died suddenly but peacefully at Regina Medical Center in Hastings on Tuesday evening, June 25, 2019. Candace Lou, the daughter of George "Shorty" and Shirley (Mann) Hild, was born August 6, 1953, in Hastings, and graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1971. Candy always had a big heart and was willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed baking pies and apple crisp, and most of all, enjoyed her trips to Treasure Island where she played Keno. Candy worked at REM for fifteen years where she enjoyed helping people with disabilities, and eventually retired as her health began to fail. Most of all, Candy loved her grandchildren and the time they spent together. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George (Pam); and nephews, Sean, Eric, and Jeff Erstad. Candy is survived by her children, Michael Hancock, Monica Moes (Ed Schluessler), and Randy (Kathleen) Hancock; grandchildren, Kayla, Austin, and Seth Hancock, Christopher (Laura) Nelson, Cassidy Moes, and Cody Schmidt, Andrew Hancock, and Dylan, Luke, Lindsay Wagner; great grandchildren, Skylar and Leland Nelson; siblings, Twil (Bob) Grove, and Lynn (Pat) Mann; and by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Candy's Life will be held Monday, July 8, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion, 50 Sibley Street, Hastings. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
