Candace E. Coonrod, age 67 of Prescott, Wisconsin, died peacefully at home following a brief battle with Melanoma on Sunday morning, May 23, 2021. Candace Elaine, the daughter of Jack and Marjorie (Wildes) Coonrod, was born on March 26, 1954, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Following her high school graduation, she continued her education in nursing and graduated from South Dakota State University. Candy was a longtime Nurse Practitioner in the Neonatal ICU Department at Children's Hospital, and recently retired after thirty-plus years of employment. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed being at home in the country with her pets and working in her many flower gardens. With her dedication to her career, Candy always made sure others were well cared for prior to taking care of herself. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her sister, Debra Coonrod. Candy is survived by her siblings, Shawn (Vickie) Coonrod, Pam Coonrod, and Marty (Mary) Coonrod; nieces and nephews, Peter Coonrod (Beth Decoster), Robert (Crystal Rego) Coonrod, Lisa (Kevin) Saunders, Jake (Jill) Coonrod, Brianna Coonrod, Scott (Amy) Myers, and Amanda Coonrod; many great nieces and nephews, and especially be known as Nanny to her great nieces and nephews, Lydia, Emily, Donnie, Mallie, Hank, and Tom; and by other relatives and close friends. A Celebration of Candy's Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Greg Gilbert officiating. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
