Bruce Harlan Holien, age 75, of Vermillion died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis following an extended illness.Bruce was born June 27, 1937 in Rice County to Marlow and Helen (Kasa) Holien. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a former employee at Brockway Glass Co. for over 23 years and then was employed by the Dakota County SheriffsOffice as a corrections officer for over 16 years.He married Mary Fuchs June 24, 1967 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. He is survived by Mary, 3 children Dr. Chad (Dr. Kelsi) Holien of Sartell, MN, Vicki (Fianc� Ben Rother) Englin of Hastings, and John Holien of Vermillion; grandchildren Ainsley, Dru and Adam Holien; Abigail and Kaelynn Englin; his mother Helen Radtke of Hastings; half sisters Sandy Hanson of Fridley and Debbie Kellington of Battle Lake; half brothers James Holien of Hibbingand Dean Radtke of Hager City, WI. He was preceded in death by his father, an infant son and infant daughter and a sister Marilyn Peterson.The funeral Mass officiated by Father Stan Mader will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, June 27, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Vermillion, MN. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 4-8 PM at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 Seventh St. E., Hastings, MN and also 1 hour prior to the funeral at church Thursday. Interment with graveside military honors provided by the Hastings Lyle-Russell VFW Post 1210 will be in the parish cemetery. The pallbearers are Mark Peine, Ryan Fuchs, Rick Fuchs, Marlin Reinardy, Mike Preston and Kurt Fuchs.
