Betty A. Swanson

Betty A. Swanson, age 82, passed away at home surrounded by her family on March 21, 2020. She was born in Red Wing on June 20, 1937 to Leslie and Ethel Anderson. In 1954, Betty married Donald Swanson, also from Red Wing, and together they had five children. In 1964, they moved their family to Hastings where their residence has been ever since. She worked as head cook for Hastings Public Schools for 22 years. Betty and Don were married for 56 years, until his death in 2010. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Derald; and brother, Robert. Betty is survived by her children, Donald, Barbara, Brenda, and Bonita; grandchildren, Brian, Michelle, Gjedaiah, Nicole, Nina, and Noah; great grandchildren, Lydia, Elijah, and Parker; many other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at Burnside Cemetery in Red Wing on Betty's 83rd birthday on June 20 at 11:00 AM Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel is serving the family.
