Elin Elizabeth (Anderson) Lindell, age 92, of Hastings, died Tuesday, October 22, 2013. She was born on Friday, September 2, 1921 in Red Wing, Goodhue County, MN. She was the daughter of Anders Gotfried Anderson, formerly of Goodhue, MN and Gitta Regina (Jenson), formerly of Goodhue, MN. Her father emigrated from Sweden in 1877.Having worked as a painter at Red Wing Pottery, Beth pursued her interest in art. She collected antiques and art in post-war Germany, and learned about the culture and life of people affected by war. She became skilled in the arts of weaving and spinning, becoming known for her expertise in the use of natural plants and flowers for dying wool, linen, flax and other natural fibers. She was a member of the Spiral Fiber Arts Guild of Hastings, Pleasant Hill Book Group, and St. Philip's Lutheran Church. She was a weaver, spinner, gourmet cook, officer's wife, European historian, painter, lifelong learner, dear friend and a lover of life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Colonel Rodney Walter Lindell of Red Wing, MN on October 24, 1996. He was a 1944 graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point, and served in the European theater after D-Day and during the restoration of Germany. He served in posts in Germany, Austria, Korea and the US.She is survived by nieces, Rebecca Clair of Everett, Washington; Roberta (Ray) Aitchison Olson of Saint Paul; Lisa (Bruce) Stevens of Brooklyn Park; and their families, as well as cousins, and many dear and precious friends.A Funeral Service will be held at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 1401 W. 15th St., Hastings, on Mon. (10/28) at 11:00 a.m. A Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Her pallbearers will are Gregory Stevens, Cody Stevens, Carlie Stewart, Ethan Clair, Simon Olson, and Sari Olson. Memorials preferred.
