Bernard P. Moes

Bernard P. Moes, age 89, of Vermillion, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009, at Cannon Falls Community Medical Facility. Bernard was born January 23, 1920 in Douglas Township to John and Margaret (Gergen) Moes. He attendedSt. Mary's School in New Trier, and was also a member of the parish, and St. Nicholas Society.Bernard married Theresa Gores on June 18, 1947 at St. James Catholic Church, St. Paul. He was a farmer for many years in theNew Trierarea.He greatly enjoyed farming well into his 80's, playing cards, and reminiscing about the old daysto his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tom; and brother, John. Bernard is survived by his wife, Theresa; children, Bernadette (Wayne) Kieffer of Hastings, Jeanne (Don) Wyszynski of Arden Hills, Joe (Bev) Moes of Hastings, and Beverly (Dan) Peine of Hampton; grandchildren, Mark, Kevin, Tim, Nick, Alan, Nicole, Amanda, Sarah, and Renee; great grandchild, Sommer; sister, Sr. Duane Moes, O.S.B. of Maplewood; brother Nicholas (Mabel) Moes and sister in law Joan Moes, all of Hastings.The Funeral Mass, concelebrated by Rev. Richard Hogan, Rev. Joseph Arackel, Rev. Jay Kythe, Rev. Leonard Siebenaler, Rev. Martin Siebenaler, and Rev. John Siebenaler, will be held on Friday, April 3, 2009, at 10:30AM, at St. Mary�s Catholic Church, New Trier, followed by interment in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2009, from 4:00-8:00PM at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings, and one hour prior to the Friday service at church.Pallbearers will be grandchildren: Kevin Kieffer, Tim Kieffer, Nick Kieffer, Alan Moes, Sarah Moes, Renee Moes, Nicole Peine, and Amanda Wyszynski. Honorary pallbearers will be: John Peine, Lloyd Peine, Lawrence Peine, Henry Peine, Joe Beissel, and Marvin Reinardy.
