Bernard �Ben� Rimpila, age 87 of Hastings, MN died July 29, 2012 at the Regina Medical Center. Ben was born August 16, 1924 in New York Mills, MN to Fabian and Lena (Ehnert) Rimpila. He was a graduate of New York Mills High School. Ben served in the Army Infantry as an MPandwas at the Nuremberg Trials. He alsodrove General Patton. Ben married Peg Petersen September 10, 1944 in Sebeka, MN. He was service manager at New York Mills, Freed Chevrolet and O�Brien Chevrolet of Hastings from 1957-1990, when he retired. Ben was active in his church and was a community volunteer. He loved woodworking and was a VFW member. Ben was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Gary and Ron. He is survived by his wife Peg; daughter Gloria Springer of Fergus Falls; son Lucky (Connie) Rimpila of Northfield; daughters-in-law Helen Rimpila of Lonsdale and Patti Rimpila of Hastings; also 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Roberts of Anchorage, AK and brother Kenneth Rimpila of New York Mills. The Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Doug Duin will be held 11 AM Thursday, August 2, at Our Saviour�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 W. Ninth St., Hastings. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at church. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210 will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. Honorary Pallbearers will behis ten grandchildren. Memorials are preferred.
