Barbara "Barb" Johnson

Barbara "Barb" Johnson, age 32 of Burnsville, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family following a recent illness on Saturday morning, December 7, 2019, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville. Barbara Jean, "Barbie" to many, was born on April 26, 1987, to Scott and Donna (Newell) Johnson in Burnsville. Barb was part of the first class that attended all four years at the new Hastings High School, and graduated with the class of 2005. In following her heart and desire to care for others, Barb began providing to those with disabilities while in seventh grade. Her heart of gold, dedication, and willingness to care of anyone in need, was always a main priority. Barb continued to provide direct support over the years and was recently promoted to Program Coordinator. She lived a very simple life, and always made sure everyone else was taken care of before herself. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time pheasant hunting and fishing with her dad. Most of all, Barb loved being an aunt to Aiden, whom she loved dearly. She and Aiden looked forward to many "Aiden and Aunty" days. Barb had a true love for God, and was a faith-filled believer. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William and Annamae Newell; and by her uncles, Tom Newell and Nick Kavala. Barb is survived by her loving parents, Scott and Donna Johnson; sisters, Christina and Annamarie Johnson; nephew, Aiden; paternal grandparents, Don and Avis Johnson and maternal grandma, Yvonne Newell; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Barb's Life will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings, with Paris Pasch officiating. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Barb's family would like to especially thank the wonderful care providers at Fairview for their care, compassion, and commitment they provided to Barb in her final days. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
