Arthur "Art" Groth, age 79 of Prescott, Wisconsin and formerly of Hastings, died peacefully on Sunday morning, November 26, 2017, at Prescott Nursing and Rehab. Arthur Otto, the son of Arthur A. and Adel E. (Pieper) Groth, was born on July 4, 1938, in West St. Paul. Following his graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1957, Art managed the Sherwin Williams store in downtown Hastings. He then became a longtime insurance agent for New York Life. Art later owned and operated two bars, and sold log cabins before his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and building homes. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sisters-in-law, Barb and Betty Groth. Art is survived by his children, Linda (Rich) Myklebust, Sharon (Doug) Maxon, Barb (Jim) Bowen, Sandy (Jim) Leifeld, and Sarah (Jeremy) Baldwin; his nine grandchildren; his honorary son, Tom Petschauer; his siblings, Duane (Barb) Groth, Wally (Judy) Groth, Glenn (Cindy) Groth, Joyce (Randy) Westphal, Gale Groth, and Don Groth; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Prescott, with Pastor Tim Rosenow officiating. Visitation will be held at church on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Art will be laid to rest at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
