Arnold H. "Andy" Endres

Arnold H. "Andy" Endres, age 85 of Hastings, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, October 22, 2019, at Augustana Care of Hastings following a brief illness. Arnold Henry, the son of Peter and Marie (Rother) Endres, was born on September 28, 1934, in Northfield. Following his education, Andy continued to help on the family farm in Hampton Township, and also worked various jobs until beginning his employment with the City of Hastings Water Department where he later retired after thirty-four years of service. On September 12, 1953, Andy was united in marriage to Cleo M. Fry at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings. They celebrated sixty-five years of marriage and many memories together prior to her recent passing on October 10, 2018. Following his and Cleo's retirement, they moved to their lake home near Babbitt, MN for twenty-three years, and eventually returned to Hastings in 2017. They also enjoyed wintering in the Mesa, Arizona area for many years as well. Andy was a longtime member of the Hastings Fire Department where he served as an EMT and Volunteer Captain for twenty years. He loved to hunt and fish, garden, and of course, always made sure he had an immaculate yard. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Cleo. Andy is survived by his six children, Steve (Sonya) Endres, Michael Endres, Kathryn (Allan Shapiro) Lebewitz, LouAnn (Dave) Braun, Cheryl Endres and Susan Metcalf; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Frandrup, Helene Tri, and David (Darlene) Endres; sisters-in-law, Melva Jane Proechel and Mae Mudder; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Gordon Gathright officiating. Family and friends are cordially invited to a a visitation for one hour prior to the service, and to a reception immediately following the service, all at the funeral home on Sunday.
