Ardella Woodward

Ardella Woodward, age 88 of Hastings, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday morning, February 27, 2021. Ardella Constance Geneva, the daughter of Archie and Adeline (Jensen) Teigen, was born on September 30, 1932, in Appleton, Minnesota. She attended Anoka High School where she participated in the school choir and in the theater productions. Following her graduation with the class of 1950, she went on a blind date to a dance with a young man named Donald "Don" Woodward. They were later married on September 27, 1951, and were blessed with six children, sixty-eight years of marriage, and many wonderful memories together prior to his recent passing on March 20, 2020. After moving around for Don's career, they settled in their home on Oak Street in Hastings in 1961. Outside of raising her six children, she always made sure her door was open to any of the neighborhood kids as well. She and Don were longtime members of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Hastings where Ardella enjoyed being involved with church council, altar guild, confirmation classes, and was an active member of the funeral committee. She also enjoyed getting together every month with her card club ladies. Ardella's love for her family and friends will forever be cherished. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; brothers, Archie Jr. and James; and by her son-in-law, James Cappola. Ardella is survived by children, Debra Cappola, James Woodward, Kathryn (Robert) Krebsbach, David (Shari) Woodward, Mark (Jill) Woodward, and Daniel (Kasandra) Woodward; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; her dog, Sassy; and by many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2021, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Reverend Lloyd Menke officiating. Private family interment for both Don and Ardella will be held at Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Ardella's family requests memorials be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in her memory. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
