Ardell M. Semington

Ardell Semington, 86, died Thursday, April 30, 2020 of heart failure. He leaves his wife of 60 years, (Mary) Jean; his sons, Steve (Monica) and Peter (Agnes), 5 grandchildren, Lexie, Ashley, Aaron, Jonny, and Lizzie; and 2 sisters, Betty Kay (George) Stein, and Lois (Herb) Pikoske. He was preceded in death by his son, James and his grandson, Taylor. Born January 8, 1934 in Cumberland, WI to Carl and Hilda Semington, he grew up in Chippewa Falls, WI. After graduating High School, Ardell attended the University of Wisconsin on a football scholarship. He spent 2 years in the Army stationed in Germany. He met his future wife on a blind date. They were married in July 1960 in Eau Claire, WI. In 1966 they moved to Hastings, MN. Ardell established a successful career as District Sales Manager for DuPont Agrichemicals for over 25 years. In retirement, he was co-owner of Orchardview Farms, an apple orchard, for almost 20 years. A devoted Green Bay Packer fan, Ardell enjoyed all Wisconsin football. He was much admired for his work ethic and great sense of humor. He was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed. A Private Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday (5/6) at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel in Hastings.
