Ann Irene Knoll, age 94 of Hastings, died peacefully Friday evening, May 5, 2017, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings, following an extended illness. Ann Irene, the daughter of John and Emma (Moes) Sieben, was born on April 4, 1923, in New Trier, Minnesota. Following her education, Ann began working as a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII where she helped build B-29 Superfortress Bombers in Seattle, Washington. On June 7, 1947, Ann was united in marriage to Martin M. Knoll at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. They were blessed with three children, Dianne, Gerald "Jerry", and Ken, prior to his sudden passing on April 12, 1970. Ann was a longtime Dietary Aide at Regina Hospital in Hastings. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin; and by her siblings, Rosemary, Monica, and Raymond. Ann is survived by her children, Dianne (George) Morehouse of Cannon Falls, Gerald "Jerry" (JoAnne) Knoll of Hastings, and Ken (Maryann) Knoll of Cape Coral, FL; her grandchildren, Penny (Jon) Tupy, Heather (Chris) Makowske, Holly Knoll, and Matt Morehouse; her four great grandchildren, Isabella, Charles, and Joseph Makowske, and Joseph Tupy; her sister, Maddie Lambrecht of Jordan; and by many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, other relatives, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings, and will continue for one hour prior to Mass on Thursday at church. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services of Hastings.
