Alice Taffe

October 13, 1932 — November 17, 2016

Alice Taffe (nee Szouronski), age 84, of Hastings, died at Regina Senior Living in Hastings, MN on November 17, 2016. Alice was born October 13, 1932 in Grenfell, SK, Canada. She started school there, finishing in Broadview, SK, Canada. After high school she completed her Psychiatric Nursing degree at Saskatchewan Hospital in Weyburn, SK. Shortly thereafter Alice embarked on her great adventure to the U.S., never getting farther than Minnesota where she pursued her nursing career and where she met her future husband, Richard Taffe. Alice worked for twenty-five years as a Title I instructional assistant in Hastings School District #200. Following her retirement, she volunteered for many years at the Hastings Senior Center and Regina Hospital. She was an avid tennis player and loved being physically active. Alice was known for her love of life, her kindness, her vibrant smile and cheerful greeting to everyone whom she met, and her love of walking everywhere. She had the magic touch with children and with people. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Taffe; parents, Michael and Anne Szouronski; brothers, Harry and William Szouronski; sisters, Mary Szouronski, Catherine Langdahl, Rosalind Szouronski, and Eva Szouronski; brothers-in-law, Robert Langdahl, James Cook, Vincent Taffe, Vincent McGraw, John Taffe, Tom Taffe, Norbert Buller; sisters-in-law, Libby Taffe, Joyce Taffe and Teresa Taffe. She is survived by her children, Mari Taffe (Kurt Thompson), John Taffe and Jennifer Taffe; her granddaughter, Katie Taffe; sisters, Olga Cook and Margaret Dupperault; brother, John Szouronski; brothers-in-law, Don Dupperault, Charles Taffe; sisters-in-law, Joy Taffe, Jean Buller, Marie McGraw, Helen Taffe, Lynn Taffe, Marion Szouronski; and many nieces and nephews and their children. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00am at Regina Memorial Chapel, 1285 Nininger Road, Hastings, MN. Visitation at 10:00am. Interment Lakeside Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the American Legion in Hastings. The family would like to thank the entire Regina staff for their gracious and loving care of Alice during these past almost four years, and the Allina Health Hospice staff during these past few weeks. Memorials preferred to Regina Senior Living or your favorite charity
